EP 5. Carly Harvey: Reclaiming your heritage

Based out of Washington, DC, Carly Harvey combines Blues, Jazz, Soul, and Indigenous American styles to produce a unique sound. She is the originator of the "Native Scat"—an improvisational fusion of a traditional Jazz scat with Native vocables.

Carly’s grandmother is Black and Mexican. While growing up Spanglish and Latin music and food were a big part of her life. Carly identifies as Afro Indigenous and deeply connects with the indigeneity of her Mexican side
